Pharmacology
Flupenthixol is an anxiolytic, antidepressive agent and a mood stabilizer. It inhibits the central monoamine receptors, particularly the dopamine D1 and D2 receptors. Therefore, it increases the amount of serotonin and noradrenaline that control mood and thinking, and improves mood.

Patient Information:
Flupenthixol alone or with alcohol may cause blurred vision or drowsiness. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing other
activities that may become hazardous because of decreased alertness. Patients should be warned not to drink alcohol while taking
Flupenthixol.
Patients should discuss about the risks of taking Flupenthixol to the fetus and child with the doctors if they are breastfeeding,
pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant.
Patients should be advised to use sunscreen and wear protective clothing to avoid sunburn, because flupenthixol can cause your skin to
be more sensitive to sunlight than it is normally.
