    Somavert est utilisé pour le traitement de l'acromégalie, qui découle de excessifs d'IGF-1. Somavert se lie sélectivement à l'hormone de croissance (GH) des récepteurs à la surface cellulaire, où il bloque la liaison de GH endogène, et donc interfère avec la transduction du signal GH.
