Para el alivio de la ansiedad, tensión y aprensión, también se utiliza como un anticonvulsivo para el tratamiento de la epilepsia.

N-Methylethylphenylbarbituric acid Farmacologia

R-mefobarbital, un barbitúrico, se usa en combinación con paracetamol o aspirina y cafeína por su efecto sedante y relajante en el tratamiento de las cefaleas tensionales, las migrañas y el dolor. Barbitúricos actúan como depresores no selectivos del sistema nervioso central (SNC), capaz de producir todos los niveles de alteración del estado de ánimo del SNC desde la excitación al sedación, hipnosis y coma profundo. En lo suficientemente alto dosis terapéuticas, los barbitúricos inducir la anestesia.
