Pharmacology
Mupirocin, an antibiotic produced from Pseudomonas fluorescens, is structurally unrelated to any other topical or systemic antibiotics. Mupirocin is used to treat infection caused by Staphylococcus aureus and beta-hemolytic streptococci including Streptococcus pyogenes. This antibiotic has little, if any, potential for cross-resistance with other antibiotics.

by cuts or scraps. It is not effective against fungal or viral infections.

or ointment evenly onto the affected area(s). You may cover the wound with a
sterile bandage if desired.
Missed Dose

dose, take your next dose, as soon as you remember. If you are close to your next
dose, do not double up. Skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.

of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture
(not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
