Pour le traitement de l'hépatite chronique C, la leucémie à tricholeucocytes, le sarcome de Kaposi associé au SIDA, et la leucémie myéloïde chronique

Régule l'expression des protéines du CMH I, permettant la présentation accrue de peptides dérivés d'antigènes viraux. Cela améliore l'activation des cellules T CD8 + qui sont les précurseurs des cytotoxiques Lymphocytes T (CTL) et rend le macrophage une meilleure cible pour CTL médiée tuer. L'interféron alpha induisent également la synthèse de plusieurs grands médiateurs antiviraux, y compris la 2'-5 'synthétase oligoadénylate (2'-5 'A synthétase) et la protéine kinase R.
